Haynes Wire Leans into Sustainability Efforts

Henderson County, NC – Haynes Wire, located in Mountain Home, has installed a 1-megawatt solar fixed, ground mount array system at its facility to reduce the dependence on nonrenewable energy sources. The facility is a long-time manufacturer in Henderson County and has been providing high-quality, stable jobs to Henderson County residents for over twenty years.

Haynes Wire is affiliated with Haynes International, a leading developer, manufacturer, and distributor of technologically advanced, high-performance nickel and cobalt-based alloys for use in high-temperature and corrosion applications. With multiple locations in the United States, Haynes International products are distributed globally and used in a variety of markets, including aerospace, chemical processing, and power generation.

Haynes International, like most forward-looking companies, is environmentally conscious and actively working to lighten its carbon footprint. Since 2010, the company has invested more than $2.0 million in energy conservation programs, and as a result, the company now saves approximately $1.1 million in energy costs per year. The company has specific targets in place for reducing electricity and natural gas consumption in its energy conservation programs. The newly installed 1-megawatt solar system at Haynes Wire provides over 50% of the electricity needs for the 100,000 square foot facility.
