Zentric, Inc. Headquarters Locates in Henderson County

Zentric, Inc. announced their plans today to consolidate and relocate operations of the company’s headquarters to Henderson County, NC.  The company plans to create 116 new jobs and invest $7 million in real and business personal property over the next few years.  The location decision marks Zentric’s emergence from a technology development company to an operating entity focused on advanced battery technology development.

Zentric was founded in 2008 in Nevada and focuses on the development of battery technologies and fuel cell storage.  The new headquarters will allow Zentric to further develop battery and solar technologies through research and design, but will also house assembly and administrative support operations.  Zentric President, Mr. William Tien, stated, “The decision to consolidate our office locations, and launch assembly operations, came after careful review and consideration of building options in many communities, in many states.  Henderson County offered a strong business climate balanced with a focus on sustainability, elected leadership that understood business needs, and access to a qualified workforce – all of which help to ensure our company’s successful start-up.”

Zentric plans to hire 116 employees over the next 4 years, and as many as 44 through the end of 2013.  The average wages for jobs provided by Zentric are in excess of $40,000 year, and include research technicians, engineers, warehouse/logistics staff, and office support.  Charlie Messer, Chairman of the Henderson County Board of Commissioners, said, “We are pleased with Zentric’s decision to locate in Henderson County, and look forward to watching them grow and employ many people in our community as they become our newest corporate citizen.”

The company selected an existing facility at 220 Continuum Drive in Fletcher for their operations after looking closely at many options.  Zentric has plans to expand the existing 31,000 square foot facility in 2014 to accommodate additional growth.  Bill Moore, Mayor of the Town of Fletcher, said, “Fletcher welcomes Mr. Tien and Zentric to our community.  We are excited to see new and innovative ideas and products being developed in our Town, and of course we are excited about the positive employment impact this company will have.”  Chip Gould, Chairman of the Partnership’s Board of Directors, remarked, “Zentric is a good example of the diverse nature of our economy and our community’s ability to be competitive in pursuing diverse employment projects.”

HCPED Grows with Patron Members

The 2011-2012 fiscal year brought many great opportunities to the Henderson County Partnership.  The publicity the organization received through project announcements encouraged many businesses in the community to take time to better understand the primary goals and functions of the Partnership.  This attention led the organization, both Board and staff, to focus on membership growth.  The year ended with 26 new investors in the organization and several existing members increasing their support level.  Private dollars to the organization grew by 94% over the previous fiscal year, greatly surpassing budgetary expectations.

As new interest in investing in Henderson County ‘s economic development future grew, it became evident that the Partnership needed to restructure investment support levels and benefits for the following year.  The organization needed to offer new outlets for members to connect, to receive current information relevant to our local economy, and at the same time provide a conduit for the organization to enhance marketing and client handling efforts.

In June 2012, the Partnership called on previous years’ Annual Event sponsors to discuss the idea of a Patron Membership Level.  The level would be an annual investment of $2,500 and include enhanced visibility through sponsorship, signage and recognition at all HCPED events throughout the year.  The Patron Membership concept was discussed and approved by the Board of Directors in August.  Since its inception, the Partnership is very pleased to have eight members choose to elevate their support of economic development as a Patron Member.  Those members include: Asheville Savings Bank, Blue Ridge Community College, Cooper Construction Company, Duke Energy, First Citizens Bank, Hunter Automotive, PSNC Energy and The Van Winkle Law Firm (check out the VW holiday video here).  Throughout the year, these eight companies will be the exclusive Patron Sponsors for events including the Industrial Executives Forum, Industrial Appreciation Event and the 1st Annual Investors Update Luncheon scheduled for early 2013.

We want to express our appreciation for the support that we receive from a diverse membership base, and the leadership of our new Patron Members.  HCPED is a public-private partnership that serves both local government and private business in the role of protecting and building a strong local economy.  We want to thank all of our members for choosing to invest in a strong local economy.
