The SBTDC is the business and technology extension service of The University of North Carolina. It is administered by North Carolina State University and operated in partnership with US Small Business Administration. The North Carolina SBTDC serves as a business advisory resource for growing and developing businesses.
WCU’s Rapid Center is a state-of-the-art R&D Center offering manufacturing, reverse engineering, product testing and development capabilities, and manufacturing process improvements.
NC State’s IES program is an engineering-based, client service unit of NCSU that offers extension services out of its Raleigh-based campus to serve employers across the state. The IES program offers manufacturers a variety of consulting and research-based services such as continuous improvement audits and instruction, cybersecurity awareness and compliance support, instructional design and training improvements, as well as leadership training and professional development resources.
The SBC provides training, confidential counseling, and resource information to businesses at no cost due to funding from the State of North Carolina. Services can be customized to suit your specific business needs. In addition, the SBC offers a variety of conferences and seminars related to starting and growing a small business.
The Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development offers several programs throughout the year geared towards providing networking opportunities and useful resources to local industry.
Industrial Executives Forum: The Partnership hosts a yearly forum designed to bring together executives from all industries within Henderson County. This event typically brings over 150 people together for networking and programming ranging in topics from millennials in the workplace, to local and global economic outlooks, to resources needed for an ever-growing workforce.
Neighborhood Meetings: The Partnership facilitates neighborhood meetings throughout the year, providing an opportunity for neighboring industries to network with each other and troubleshoot similar issues. These meetings are industry-led with a variety of topics covered depending on current events/needs. Topics covered can range from recycling excess materials, to road improvement projects with the NCDOT, to university resources for product development or workforce training, to transportation options in the area for employees.
Industry Support: HCPED serves as an advocate for and resource partner to local businesses wishing to expand.
