This month was full of events and recognitions in the economic development community! We are grateful to our partners for allowing us to host special events for everyone and to industries like Elkamet, Inc. for their 20-year long commitment to Henderson County.
Elkamet, Inc. celebrated twenty successful years in Henderson County in mid-March. Leadership from Germany came to town for a nice evening in Elkamet’s newly built office space. Elkamet has employed over 130 people consistently and is a leader in manufacturing extrusions for automobiles.
Pictured are community leaders and company personnel who were involved in the recruitment, Project Cardinal, in 2005. Chip Gould (HCPED Board Member), Bill Lapsley (project engineer, current Chair of County Commissioners), Eberhard Flammer (Owner, Elkamet), Carsten Erkel (General Manager, VP , Elkamet), Kelly Leonard (HCPED Board Member).
The Partnership hosted our annual Henderson County Manufacturing Day at the end of February – welcoming over 100 Henderson County high school students and over 50 of our investors to the Oriole Mill for a day full of tours and workforce programming! Thank you to our manufacturers for hosting tours and to our investors for enabling us to host events like this one.
The Partnership also held the third installation of Meet the Makers in March! About 40 manufacturers came out to Bold Rock Cidery for speed networking. Manufacturers this year let us know that they wanted more opportunities to meet each other – this event provides a great space for that. Stay tuned for the next installment later this year!
