Henderson County, NC: Juniors and Seniors from HCPS high schools participated in the Made in Henderson County Career Readiness Workshop yesterday at the Blue Ridge Community College’s Technology Educational & Development (TED) Center. The event was a combined effort between the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development, Henderson County Public Schools, Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC), and local industry to better prepare students for the job fair coming up on April 30th, 2018.

Nearly 70 students, representing all five high schools in Henderson County, rotated through four workshop stations focusing on interviewing skills, soft skills training, resume building, and career advice from recent HCPS graduates. Participants then broke out into different lunch stations offering students information on internship opportunities and career planning, as well as a Girls in Industry roundtable discussion.

Representatives from Henderson County Public Schools, BRCC/NCWorks and local industries: SMARTRAC Technology Group Fletcher, Meritor, Raumedic, Continental Automotive Systems, and Elkamet, came together to facilitate the workshop and educate the students on how to become desirable candidates for employment upon entering the workforce.

Students a will have a chance to put the new skills they acquired at the Career Readiness Workshop to work in front of employers at the Made in Henderson County Job Fair on April 30th.
