Henderson County, NC-
The Economic Investment Fund of Henderson County (EIF), an affiliate of the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development, has been awarded a grant of $10,000 by the Community Foundation of Henderson County.
The grant will be utilized to enhance the Made in Henderson County program, a coordinated effort to connect manufacturing employers, the Henderson County Public School System and students. Since its inception in 2012, MIHC has reached over 6,000 students and consistently measures a 20% increase of students interested in manufacturing careers following tours.
“We’d like to thank the Community Foundation of Henderson County for their continued support,” said EIF Board Chair Chip Gould, “as labor shortages across the county become a critical concern for manufacturing employers, we’re proud to see our community collaborating to make strides towards preserving and developing a strong local workforce.”
The EIF was founded in 2016 and part of its efforts are dedicated to workforce development. Since its inception, the EIF has helped the Made in Henderson County workforce program ensure that the youth of Henderson County have a diverse employment opportunity in the community by raising the visibility of manufacturing as a viable career option. The visibility the program provides to the students also provides the manufacturing businesses access to skilled, local talent.
The Community Foundation of Henderson County, founded in 1983, supports programs in the greater Henderson County area.
